Poems Written by Teens . . .

Senioritis
by: Emily A. Von Dollen

As the snow begins to melt, and grass beings to grow
The time has come again for every senior to know
Graduation is approaching, school will soon end.
No more boring homework, no drama among friends.
Summer will be excellent, relaxing in the sun.
We won't look back on what we've done
Because high school is soon over and young children must move on
After lugging around heavy backpacks, we are all very brawn.
Laughing, smiling, secrets and surprises
Are almost forgotten about when graduation arises.
So here's to the glory years, all the fun times we shared.
Get ready for the college years, is anyone prepared?

A True Story of A Real Man

by: Nichole L. Johnson

A man that made an impression on strangers and friends.
Quiet but firm and even more stern.
Strength and courage I have learned from you, but being without you is hard to do.
A man with pride in every step he made.
A man with vigor in every phrase.

The tears I've shed cannot surpass the smiles and the laughs we had with you.
To feel your pain I could not do, to feel your joy I cannot explain, but being without is hard to do.
A man with pride in every step he made.
A man with vigor in every phrase.

A man that defined the word grand as only a real man can.
To know you're in a better place soothes my pain.
Knowing you're watching over me makes me sane.
A man with pride in every step he made.
A man with vigor in every phrase.

A true story of a real man, who in the end held his family together as only a real man can.
My grandfather, a man with poise.
You were a husband, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, friend, and the epitome of a real man.

Imagining Home

by: Jordan Priddle

A girl sat there,
Dressed in rags,
In the Jewish ghetto,
In danger.

In her mind she was a princess,
Dressed in a silk gown,
In a palace,
Safe from harm.

Around her the war raged on,
Fighting battles,
In the town
No one was safe.

In her mind she was in her own world, Seeing lost family,
Living life,
Safe from harm.

Soldiers invaded homes,
Looking for hidden refugees,
They found some,
No one was safe from harm.

In her mind she was back at home,
Sitting on her bed,
A knock on the door announced her mother, Safe from harm.

It would not be long,
Before the girl could see her family,
A soldier was behind her,
Right in harms way.
Finally, Safe from harm.
